At least 6,400 email addresses and passwords were stolen from an online shopping cart on the American Bankers Association's website, the organization recently acknowledged.
ABA CEO Frank Keating said in a statement there was no evidence the hacker or hackers accessed credit card or other financial information. ABA members use the shopping cart to make purchases or register for association events.
"Though we are not aware of any fraudulent activity associated with this, we are taking the breach seriously and have launched an immediate investigation," he said.
ABA said it took the precaution of resetting members' passwords. The association is asking them to go online and set up a new password.
The group also said it is working with a cybersecurity forensics company to identify the origin and full extent of the breach. http://bit.ly/1FMJJqd
